Lovely and colorful flower firm at the corner of Khayan

“Working with ASGB is convenient for me as it offers an affordable interest rate and I get the full amount of loan that I need for my business.”

Chrysanthemums sometimes called Mums are flowering plants which are native to East Asia and Northeastern Europe. Most species originate from East Asia and the center of diversity is in China. Chrysanthemum flowers bloom in a range of colors in shades of white, yellow, orange, lavender, purple, or red. In Myanmar, we mostly use Mums flowers when praying and donating to a Buddha statue.

Ms. Ei Mon Win has been running the Chrysanthemum flower (Gandamar) farming business since 2015. She started farming flowers with a few small seeding pots but now she is operating her business with 1 Acre of flower farming.

She buys Chrysanthemum seeding pots from Taunggyi, Shan state. Then she starts planting in her own garden in May every year. After three or four months of planting the seedlings, flowers bloom and are ready to sell. Ms. Ei Mon Win usually sell flowers at her home and Thiri Mingalar Market, Yangon.

During the recent time, however, Ms. Ei Mon is facing the difficulties of expensive pesticides and transportation fees. She is a new member of ASGB’s Khayan branch and she started to know ASGB in 2022 as her friend recommended to her. Currently she has General Monthly Loan with 10 months’ loan term.

She invests the loan into buying more Chrysanthemum seedlings to grow her business.
