Much loved local grocery store

“Since I started to sell a variety of items through the loan, I have attracted more customers and made more profits”

In 2015, Ms. Thwe Zin started her business running a video rental shop and rented films from various genres, especially Burmese dramas. When her customers began to ask about whether Ms. Thwe Zin sells cooking oil and raw rice, she decided to close her video rental shop and instead opened a grocery store. She invested the profit from the video rental business into her new grocery store and gradually upgraded her shop by selling a variety of goods. Even during the COVID pandemic, Ms. Thwe Zin didn’t close her business. Every day at 6am, she wakes up early morning to open her shop. With the help from her husband, her shop opens from 6:30am to 7:30om. Ms.Thwe Zin is a mother of two children, and looks after them while running the grocery shop during a day.

Through her Aunt who also happens to be one of the customers of Khayan Branch and owns a furniture shop, Ms. Thawe Zin first learned about ASGB in 2022. Loan officers visited her house and provided the loan product information. Until now she has received loans from ASGB twice to source a variety of items to sell at her shop.

Ms. Thwe Zin said, “Since I started to sell a variety of items through the loan, I have attracted more customers and made more profits.” She said that she plans to expand her business by selling new items such as electronic equipment, dolls, books and stationaries in the future. Snacks, raw rice, and cooking oil are among Ms. Thwe Zin’s grocery store’s best-selling items.
